REPO! is a 91-minute rock opera set in the not-so-distant future of 2056 (I'm 97% sure that's the year). An epidemic of organ failures caused the rise of GeneCo, who brought about the idea of "organ financing." GeneCo would give you a genetically perfect organ that you could pay off in a certain amount of time. However, if you can't pay off your debt, then GeneCo will send a Repo Man after you to forcefully take back the organ. (In the words of the song "Genetic Repo Man," "he won't bother to write or to phone you -- he'll just rip the still-beating heart from your chest!")... What Congress was smoking when that was made legal, no one knows.
Meet Shilo Wallace, a 17-year-old with a blood disease that's forced her to stay inside for her entire life - a disease she inherited from her late mother. Her father, Nathan, is a doctor who works endlessly to find a cure for her and works as a surgeon for GeneCo at night.
At least, that's what he wants Shilo to think. Nathan is actually GeneCo's best and brightest Repo Man. But when Nathan is told to take back organs belonging to his wife's best friend, all hell breaks loose.
This movie is 91 minutes of pure awesome. It's rated R for blood and gore, but honestly, there's only 4 or 5 scenes that are truly bloody. It's also filled with a beautiful set of songs that are absolutely stunning.
