Ok so we all know what EEnE yaoi is? Well what 'bout shotacon? That's the Japanese term for sexual relationships between underaged boys. We all know that all the boys(and girls) of the show are underaged so instead of yaoi...would this be considered shota? =/
The same goes for EEnE yuri and lolicon. XP
Wait...so does that mean we condone sex with underaged boys?
My head...is spinning. DX

Oh no...I think you're right. o_o
(Here's what I found out about the age range of shota...the ages start from around seven or eight *maybe younger O___O;;* then stop at age 13. Apparently, it's not shota when the boy/boys is/are 13 years old or older...it's pretty confusing at times, but that's what I heard.)

Re: EEnE Yaoi = Shota?
Well, the way I see it, you have to realize, first of all, that they're not REAL 12 year olds. They're being interpreted and performed by adults, so I get a different vibe from it than I would with live-action adolescent love, y'know?
And plus, shota is a word coming from a Japanese culture, a culture that is VERY different from ours. My theory is that the level of innocence in adolescents is certainly different between our two cultures; generally around this age, our culture seems more...experimental. In Freud's theory, this is the phallic stage of.. well, masturbation, to put it plain and simple, and other beginnings of sexual practice.
I don't know as much as I should on Japanese culture in relation to this topic (except a little on the topic of otakus), but considering the culture of this cartoon, I really don't think the word 'shota' can apply to it.
Hehe, I wrote a whole freaking analysis. Sorry, I tend to do that. XDDDD

Re: EEnE Yaoi = Shota?
To expand on what Nintendonut1 said, in Japan the age of adulthood is 16. That is, a girl can get married at 16 and a boy can get marred at 18. I think the age for drinking alcohol and getting a drivers license is 18, though I very well could be wrong.
“They're being interpreted and performed by adults, so I get a different vibe from it...” As she put it so neatly.
I think that may be why we are all here in the first place is becuase we got that sence of underlying maturity of the show and its characters eventhough at the same time they are obviously kids. They aren’t like Rugrats or The Weekenders here.
