When the Seraph Gains His Wings

Summary: An Ed, Edd, ‘n’ Eddy story that is the sequel to my story Restless Dream of You and is also based off an image made by chidoriashi on dA called FRAGILE. Double D is starting to act strange, and he’s not telling Eddy what’s been bothering him. But wait… who is this six year old girl that comes to Eddy’s door? And what does she want with them, but mostly Double D?

Disclaimer: I do not own Ed, Edd, ‘n’ Eddy at all! All I own in this story is the character Colette.

Chapter 1: Noticing the Problem

It was a cold, slightly cloudy morning here in the little town of Peach Creek as we come upon a little neighborhood known as the Peach Creek Cul-De-Sac. We soon come upon a house in the Cul-De-Sac where we see two boys in the kitchen of the house. One was sitting down, while the other boy was cooking his special breakfast; omelets. These two boys were only known as Double D and Eddy.

It has been six weeks since a robber attack them on their way home from school. Eddy was stabbed by the robber and almost died because of it. But it was Double D’s quick actions (and a careless mistake by the robber) that saved him from dying at the scene. While in the hospital, Double D made a prayer to Eddy while he was in a deep coma, thinking that it would help him; and it did. Eddy heard that prayer, and came out of the coma. But… how could have Eddy heard it…? You will learn soon enough…

(Anyway… back to the story!)

“Geez, I still can’t understand why Lumpy didn’t come over for breakfast,” Eddy stated as he continued to make his omelets.

“Well, he did say that he had to go to his mother’s family reunion today,” Double D replied to his statement, “So I would think that he would be busy this morning.”

“Yeah, I know that,” Eddy said with a huff of his voice, “But he could at least drop by to get it.”

“Yes, I guess he could…” Double D muttered with a sigh.

The little sigh caught Eddy’s attention, “… Something wrong?”

“Hmm…?” Double D questioned, as if he were currently thinking about something, “What?”

“I asked if there’s something wrong.”

Double D was silent for a moment before he replied, “… No, there’s nothing wrong…”

Eddy arched an eyebrow, “Ya sure…?”

“… Yes, I’m sure.”

“… Well, the omelets are done now,” Eddy stated as he brought two plates of omelets over to Double D and sat down next to him.

The two sat there and ate their omelets in silence as Eddy kept finding himself glancing over at Double D ever so often; had a slightly sad look on his face. There was something bothering him, but what was it? But then… Ding Dong! There was someone at the front door.

“Huh?” the two boys questioned, “Who can that be this early in the morning?” Double D stated further.

“Let’s find out,” Eddy stated as he and Double D walk through Eddy’s living room and went to the front door. They soon opened the door, only to make Double D widen his eyes in surprise.

There was a girl standing there at Eddy’s front door. She looked to be about the age of six. She had long, waist-length blond hair that was almost white in color. She wore a white sweater, a pair of blue jeans and white tennis shoes. Her eyes were a hue of a bright, grass green.

“You must be Double D,” the girl asked as she looked directly at him, she had a very mature voice than a regular six year old.

“Umm, y-yes,” Double D stated with a nervous stutter as his face started to grow pale, “A-And you must be…”

“You know her?” Eddy asked as he looked from him to the girl.

“… B-But it can’t be; y-you’re my…”

“… Double D?” Eddy questioned his friend further as he turned back to him, just in time to see him fall to the floor, “Double D!” he yelped as he then bent down to him.

“It looks like he passed out from shock,” said the girl as bent down beside Double D too, “I would not be surprised.”

Eddy then drugged Double D into his living room as he then picked him up and placed him on his couch. Eddy then turned back to the girl who stood beside him, “Who are you, and what do ya want?!” he then demanded from the girl.

The girl was not fazed by his tone of voice, “I am here to tell Double D something; something important,” she replied as she then looked back at the passed out boy, “But I suppose I can tell you, since you are on of his best friends,” she then turned back to Eddy, “You must not tell anyone else this, for it is a personal matter to him,” she made a little sigh before continuing, “Someone will come here and test him on his abilities.”

Eddy arched an eyebrow at the six year old, “Abilities?”

“He must pass the test,” the girl continued with a slightly sadder voice, “Or else he will never gain his wings.”

“Huh?” Eddy questioned with more confusion, “Wings?”

“He is… an Earth Seraph,” the girl said, as if that made any sense to Eddy, ‘Just like I was once; alongside him…’

The girl then looked back at Eddy, “I must leave now,” she said she walked back to Eddy’s front door and exited the house, but not without saying, “Tell him I will be watching over him from afar, Eddy,” she then closed his front door behind.

“Hey, wait!” Eddy stated as he ran after the six year old, opening his front door to ask her, “Who are…”

She was nowhere; nowhere to be seen around the Cul-De-Sac, “… you?”

Eddy the heard a groan from the living room couch as he turned to see Double D starting to come to, “Oh…” Double D groaned as he propped himself up on the couch he was lying on, “What just…?”

“Double D?” questioned Eddy as he came back over to him, “Who was that girl?”

“… Colette,” Double D replied with a voice of disbelief, “… She’s my little sister.”

“What?!” Eddy exclaimed, “You mean you’re not an only child?”

“I am an only child, Eddy…” Double D said, “… at least now,” he made a sigh at what he was going to explain to him, “Before Mother, Father and I moved here to the Cul-De-Sac, I had another sibling at the time; Colette. I was seven at the time, and she was only six… like the girl we just seen now. We were all planning to move somewhere else, so we decided to go look around for a suitable neighborhood…

“But while we were looking for the Cul-De-Sac, a careless driver came and made a head-on collision with our car…” he continued as he then reached up to his head and, without even giving Eddy any warning, pulled off his sockhat. Eddy widened his eyes and gasped at what he saw.

There was a long, deep diagonal scar far up above Double D’s right eye that seemed to be covered up by his slightly bushy, blond hair, “And that person’s careless mistake gave me this scar… and took away Colette’s life…”

A few tears started to swell from his eyes from the memories of that day. Those feelings from the past started to come back to him, “I-I’d never thought of feeling happy ever again…” But then he smiled a little, “That is, until I met you and Ed,” he then looked back at Eddy, “You two made me feel happy, the first time we all met, and I thank you and Ed for it.”

Eddy was a bit saddened now, “Why didn’t you ever tell us about this when it was bothering ya?”

“I… did not want to bother you with my problems at the time, I guess…”

They both sat there in silence for a moment before Eddy asked, “The girl at the door; was it really… your sister?”

“… It could have been,” Double D replied.

“… She also said something that I didn’t get,” Eddy started to say, “She said that you were an Earth Seraph or something,” he then turned towards Double D, “What’s that mean?”

“…” There was a very long pause between them, “It means… that I’m a…” he then looked away from him, “I-I am a half-angel.”
