Chapter 1 - Start of an Engine! Special Signal!

It had been an awfully long summer, being a bit bored and derived of close times, but here they came again, to me. I'm now at a new level of school, the one where they say people have the toughest of times: High School. Those two words simply caused my fear. In fact, each time I heard those exact words, in that exact order, in that exact phrase, I would shiver and get the chills for a while.

This was the day that we had to look over the details of the school, to get comfortable with the field around us. It was a huge school, at that. We had to gather in front of the auditorium and wait for the principal to state his speech. Not bad, but it reminded me of the times I had before. Those memories made me shed a few tears, proud and sad at why I left.

We were dismissed after the speech. It was 8:43 am, and there was, already, a cold blast of wind coming at us. We walked around, looking around us, to get familiar with the scene. It felt like such a bit of time, touring ourselves around the school and noticing details. I had a map in my hands with an overview of the entire high school.

I was walking around, slowly and in a backwards direction, only noticing building names. So, it wasn't surprising I accidentally bumped into someone soon after. That kind of shocked me a little. I turned around to apologize for me not looking out for anyone, adding a few details that I was only noticing building details. The person wasn't standing, but was bent over, picking up the map I had accidentally caused to drop.

The person was a girl, who looked familiar, with her hair bronze color and its style. She told me that she was sorry herself for bumping accidentally into me. She didn't look straight into my face, her hair blocking her own face. That voice, I thought. How come it seems so familiar? I was sweating a little.

I looked down, a bit shy, when I noticed that I dropped a card by accident. I picked it up, and the title of the card came to me a little strong. It read "Spell Chronicle." However, its card art, had 2 circles filled in with blue light. A third circle had a gleaming blue outline. I was wondering what that meant. I was also curious about how the card art was able to shine with light. No sunlight could come into the card, the way it's positioned.

Then, I looked up and I saw a tall male teenager confronting the girl. He was saying, "What are you doing? Come on!"

I saw it myself and thought that was enough. I intervened without hesitating, or even thinking. "Hey! Who the heck are you?"

The male confronting the girl saw the card held in my right hand. "So, I see you have a card. You're a duelist. My name is Sauerbraten."

I saw that the male looked similarly to a familiar wolf, with the same clothes he wore. I didn't know, but I didn't really care for the moment.

"Hey, you look familiar," I said. "However, enough of this mess. Duel me right here and right now!"

Then, right after I said that, there was the rough brustling of a bush, though there was no wind, and some kind of commotion going on nearby.

"How? You don't even have a Duel Disk, like me!" exclaimed Sauerbraten. He then held his arm way up in the air to reveal his Duel Disk. To tell you the truth, it simply annoyed me if someone showed off their equipment.

"A Duel Disk? I have one," I said, realizing what was causing the bush to do such wild actions without any wind. "Come on out, whoever it is hiding in the bush."

The person hiding in the bush came to the scene. I didn't really turn my head, but from the shadow the person cast, he/she was a really tall person. Similar haircut. How strange, but it didn't bother me much.

A few footsteps of crunching grass and a few whispers of joy were heard, and then, it was dead silent.

Soon, a Duel Disk was equipped to my left arm by the girl. "Okay, be careful about this guy. Something's strange about him. Good luck."

Then, Sauerbraten exclaimed, "Prepare to lose your dinner! You go first!"

The duel started. However, something strange happened. My head was getting a little bit of a headache. I was slightly dizzy, but I drew anyway.
